Taking advantage

We are trying to take advantage of our new surroundings before we get too busy at work.

Fisherman's Wharf

Palace of Fine Arts

Japanese Tea Garden

Berkeley Marina

Hello, Mr. Squirrel

OK, well, that's about it, because as of today, we are officially too busy!

She likes it!

Lila really seems to like her new room. It is definitely the most peaceful room in the house.

What Lila REALLY likes is Ronnie's build-a-bear cat that she made with Grandpa Arnie. She has been carrying it around the house for weeks now!

Besides her room and Ronnie's cat, Lila really, REALLY likes. . . eating. She's a tiny little thing, but eats more than Ronnie and Ben together. Here she is enjoying the Santa Cruz boardwalk.

A room for living

OK, with 113 of 142 boxes unpacked, I am ready to show off our new house. Here is our living room! Look at this great sitting area with an awesome view of the North Berkeley hills and a great new rug.

Hmmm, what could those little eyes be glued to?

And how cool is the office and reading area, complete with little birdies.

Next to come, the sweetest little baby room ever, only to be outdone by the coolest, longest, widest hallway you've ever seen!

On the other end

Two weeks ago (and four posts ago) everyone watched our stuff going ON the truck in Baltimore. Here it is coming off in CA!

Almost there

In just a few short hours (ok, long 4 hours flying with three kids!) we will be getting to our new home! I was so excited trying to plan where all the furniture would go in the new place I couldn't sleep last night.

Be sure to see Edwin's blog, Done Fall Out. In Church, to see his progress in his cross country journey.

Smile!

And the kids sure smiled at the swimming pool with Grandma and Grandpa yesterday.

Boy, did I MESS UP!

All the preparing, all the planning, packing, counting down.

How could I show up at the airport without having bought Ronnie and Ben AIRPLANE TICKETS!!!

OOPS!

Of course, within 7 days of travel, tickets are $354 EACH, each way. How lucky that I remembered I had 2 one way free tickets from rapid rewards. Man, that was LUCKY. And luckily, we are in Houston for 9 days, so just enough time to purchase tickets to California for them.

OK, now that I am over my little heart attack, let's guess how much our possessions will weigh in at the truck weigh station. I'm going to throw out my guess (I sure hope it's an overestimate): 10,350 pounds

On the move

The movers are here, and we are out of here in a couple hours.

I'm embarrassed to say, but I just got the count from the movers, and we have. . . 142 boxes! That's crazy! Who needs that much stuff?

Take a guess!

Guess how many boxes we packed up to take to California. Leave your answer in the comments. The official count will be announced tomorrow and whoever is closest wins!

It's more than you think, despite 15 bags for donation and at least that many in the trash.

Last look at the reason we came to Baltimore.

Fun and games

Moving is all just fun and games if you are not. . . the one who is packing the entire house and getting everything ready to go.

Only 4 more days until we leave the "Greatest City in America. . ."

. . . well, we all know that Houston is really the greatest city in America, but San Francisco is probably not too bad either.
