Last weekend we took a little drive to Lake Tahoe. Luckily for our Texan blood, most of the snow was gone.


But the water was still pretty chilly! Grandpa Terry and Ben were brave enough to get their toes wet.

And for Mother's Day, I got. . . CHICKEN POX! How is this possible? I got them when I was 5, but now it seems I got them from Ben (who was vaccinated), and I have 100's of little itchy spots to prove it (I'll spare everyone the picture).

Sunday highlights

This past week I was at the annual ARVO conference in Fort Lauderdale. How exciting that the necklace I donated to the WEAVR auction (women in eye and vision research) was featured in the email of Sunday highlights to all the members (that's thousands of people!!).


And the necklace sold for $130. As exciting as that is, next year, I want to be featured for my science, not jewelry, so I've got a lot of work to do in the next few months!

Coming up for air

Yesterday when I was driving across the Bay Bridge, my navigation thought I was driving right through the water! And it freaked me out for a second, because I thought I was (there is usually a bridge in the picture).



So on that note, Under Her Charm is currently closed while I am away at ARVO in Fort Lauderdale. All orders finalized by April 20th have shipped, and all others will ship with the usual time of 2-3 weeks. Thanks!

How was Lila's day?

And for another installment of, "How was Lila's Day?" i.e. the report from her teachers at school:

Lila had a nice day. We played play dough and legos. She lined up people and was naming them.

And she had her diaper changed at 10:10, 11:30, 1:00 and 4:00.



One of the cutest things about Lila, besides how cute she is, is that when she runs, she has more of an upward trajectory than a forward one. So when she runs after Ben and Ronnie, she doesn't get anywhere fast, even though she is moving really fast (up and down).

I made this ID tag necklace for myself! I love it with this new Old English font, and I think it looks great layered with other necklaces. It's definitely my new everyday necklace.

Dabbling with gems

I love the look of natural gemstones, so I am finally dabbling a bit with some. Here is a large iolite briolette that I wire wrapped and hung from some oxidized sterling components on a long chain. It definitely dresses up a white t-shirt! More to come. . .
