Our Day

Ronnie was such my little buddy today. She accompanied me to a baby shower, and could certainly hold her own, chatting with everyone. Where else for a baby shower except a redwood forest?

Then on to a local jewelry studio for an open house. We watched an enameling demonstration. Hmm, might have to try that out soon.

We closed the day with a little (lot) of karaoke. When Edwin puts on the musicals, there is no stopping us! The King and I, Chess, Grease, Oliver, Annie. . . LOVE it.

Fun times!

Fashion

Today Ronnie modeled my sweater at school. It was my sweater. It fit me. It looked WAY better on her. So now it's hers. Pretty cute!

Ronnie asked if I would help her start her own blog. She has a camera, and she has lots of ideas. She made a list of names for her blog, and chose one. I told her we could think about it. I haven't come across many blogs of 8 year olds!

European style beads

I've been experimenting with a new technique - capping and lining beads. Large hole eurpoean style beads are all the rage, and now I have created a few with hand stamped sterling silver caps. This first one is turquoise with, "this too shall pass" - one side in hebrew, and the other in english. It is strung on a braided leather bracelet with sterling ends. The end can unscrew to add more beads to the bracelet.
.
Here is an amethyst that says, "follow your dreams"

I think the beads look great simply strung on a sterling cable chain. Here is a jade bead that says, "be the change you wish to see"
.
I've been wearing, "this too shall pass" capped over a clear faceted crystal.

Fun! A bit labor intensive, but fun!

Marin County Farmers Market

Edwin's lab had a bright idea to meet at the Marin Farmers Market, purchase things, and go to his PI's house to cook the things.
001
I don't know, sounds like a lot of trouble to me.
003
Edwin bought these ginormous cucumbers to pickle (not for the group lunch, though). Pickle it!
004
After some sunshine and fresh strawberries, little Nobert almost slept through lunch.
007
Lunch wasn't so bad after all. In fact, the kids had a great time and I was actually able to relax. Especially since we bought pita chips and baba ganoush, so there was no cooking involved for me!

Shoes: Toms

It wasn't love at first sight, but these comfy shoes have definitely grown on me.

I dressed up this pair a bit with some fat quarters and fabric glue.
.
Can you guess whose little feet are wearing these tiny Toms look-a-likes?

Where is Grandpa?

Let's play a little "Where's Grandpa?" from our day on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. The first one is a give away. See if you can spot Grandpa on the beach.

This one is a little trickier. Where's Grandpa?

And now the toughest one. Can you spot Grandpa in our view from the top of the ferris wheel?

Great job!
