So I'm in line. . .

So I'm in line at the grocery store. I pick up this
and find THIS!!
Who would have thought two years ago, that something I hammered out in the basement would be in ALLURE magazine? That's almost as exciting as my first paper published in IOVS, "The effects of phenylephrine on pupil diameter and accommodation in rhesus monkeys." Thanks Jen from Charmed Life for featuring our double sided disc necklace! You can get it at Charmed Life or here:

Ice Day

So if you think a snow day is bad, try an ICE day. The entire surface of Baltimore is covered in ice, like an ice skating rink.

What an honor to be featured on Adorkable Crochet's Blog. That's a treat on a snowy day (that and my bag of Milano cookies)!www.adorkablecrochet.blogspot.com

Guess I'll spend the day playing with kids

and working at my computer!

Lightening up the shop

Ok, ok, I've gotten several suggestions to change up my photography a bit, and especially to get rid of the faded edges on my pictures. So here are my first efforts at getting creative:
Guitar pick for your music lover
Large gold initial necklace, a la Liz Lemon
Silver bars on the rocks

Cruising Along

Little Lila is growing up so fast. She LOVES dancing to music and getting into everything. Here are the cutest little chubby legs cruising along the couch - always on her tip toes!

Take a guess!

If you can guess what this is, I will be VERY impressed. Here is a hint - it is not originally blue.

Here is my interpretation:

Snow day?

As a born and raised Houstonian, this whole "winter" idea is completely foreign to me.

I totally don't understand what this "snow" is all about, and Lila was with me on this one.

My only consolation is that this is our last winter to live in these frigid arctic like conditions.

Ronnie said she had a "really really really really really really" fun time!

Obama in Baltimore

Today after a super fun play date for Ben and his friend, and then dropping Ronnie at her friend's birthday party, I shirked my parental responsibilities and took the light rail to Lexington Market. From there it was about 10 blocks (and 15 degrees!) to the War Memorial where Barack Obama was making a stop on the way to DC.

There were 40,000+ people and plenty of kids, but they all looked really cold, so I'm glad I left mine with Daddy.

everyone was excited

complete with secret service

plenty of bling

and, of course, Barack.

Should we or shouldn't we?

Barack Obama will be in Baltimore at 4:00 pm this Saturday. Do we dare brave the crowds?

This would require us to pack up the kids and drive to a metro stop, where we could all pile on and go to "close" to where Obama will be. Then we would need to walk several blocks with Ben saying he can't walk, Ronnie saying her legs are tired, and Lila hanging from the Bjorn, all in 20 degrees through masses of humanity.

Well, it would certainly be memorable.

Branding

The whole business thing seem a bit more real now that I've taken the plunge and purchased my very own rubber stamp.

Now what should I stamp it on?

Indie expert

Indie Expert - that's a pretty cool title, given to me by this very cool website, Wishpot! A couple of my pieces are shown on this website, but besides that, there are a ton of unique items, including links to where you can buy them. I'll definitely be adding to my "wishpot"!

300th sale!

Etsy has been such a great venue for my shop. On August 20th, I was waiting for my 100th sale, December 1st was my 200th sale, and today, January 2nd, my 300th sale. I have the holiday rush to thank for that!

Leaving Houston

Everyone has had a wonderful time visiting home. I enjoyed lots of babysitter time so I could get in some shopping and relaxing, and the kids were sufficiently spoiled. Tomorrow, back to reality.
